31 Days: A Memoir of Seduction
Marcia Gloster’s memoir is set in Austria during the summer of 1963. In addition to painting a picture of the artists with whom she shared the seductive Salzburg nights, Gloster gives the reader a window into Oskar Kokoschka’s famous, and infamous, School of Vision.
A more official history of “this first summer academy of art in Europe” can be found on the website of the school, now known as the Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts.
Rudolf Kortokraks, a German painter and instructor at Kokoschka’s School of Vision, is a memorable figure in 31 Days. Gloster reconnected with Kortokraks in Salzburg while researching the book in 2013.
